Obituary of Mary Miles
Mary Delores Miles was born on February 16, 1966 from the union of Robert T. Miles and Mary E. (Wood) Miles. She was born in Frankfort, Germany where her father was stationed in the military. After leaving Germany, for a short period of time, the family made their home in Texas before finally settling in the Monroe area in 1971. Mary would attend Monroe Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1984 from Monroe High School.
For many years, Mary, supported her family with employment at the Ford Motor Company. She would retire in 2019.
Mary was a faithful believer in the Lord and had been an active member of the Stewart Road Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. Mary loved cooking and her son Robert fondly recalls her fabulous baked macaroni and cheese, which time and time again he declared was the best he had ever feasted on. Mary also enjoyed baking, making pies and cookies, during the Christmas holiday season to share with others as gifts. More than anything in this world, Mary, truly cherished the time she was able to spend with family, especially her five grandchildren.
Mary D. Miles, age 55, of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Thursday; August 12, 2021 at Medilodge of Monroe. She had been under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice. Her passing was preceded by her father: Robert Miles; her brother: Bobby A. Miles; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her three aunts: Elizabeth Epps, Anna Marie Wood, and Patricia Wood.
To cherish her memory she leaves behind her loving son: Robert Miles of Monroe; her mother: Mary E. Miles; her brother: Julian Miles of Monroe; her sister: Nicky Phillips of Texas; her uncles: Robert A. Wood, Thomas A. Wood, Royce Anthony Wood, and Royal Albert Wood Jr.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday; August 18, 2021 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Homegoing Celebration of Mary’s Life will follow at 1:00pm also at Merkles.
