Obituary of Gregory Paul Pirtle

Gregory “Greg” Paul Pirtle was born on August 6, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan from the union of Joseph E. and Sheila G. (Glover) Pirtle.  Greg was a 1975 graduate of Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

Greg loved the south!... but Harrogate, Tennessee was one of his favorites. He loved spending time there with his buddies!  After he and Debbie were married, he also learned to love the mountains of North Carolina, where her family was from.  It became a standing joke between them of which place was the most beautiful.  LOL  But, his love for “The “Volunteer State” was evident from the logos on his truck, to his TN ball caps, shirts and jackets, down to the University of Tennessee tattoo on his leg!

Greg was a self-proclaimed Hillbilly.   He loved anything and everything Hillbilly, even putting his favorite saying on his truck’s license plate, “Wayasay”.   He loved listening to Bluegrass music 24/7.   He didn’t have a favorite singer because he loved them all!   Greg enjoyed picking his own guitar in his spare time and loved to go to Bluegrass festivals. Sometimes he would even set up his camper a week in an advance just to get a good spot!   He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Greg was naturally very handy.   He put his God-given skills to great use as a truck mechanic for over forty years, living and breathing diesel fuel!   For the past year Greg worked as the fleet manager at Hogan Transport.

On June 22, 2012 at the Taylor Wedding Chapel in Taylor, Michigan, Greg, married the love of his life the former, Deborah Lynn Sprinkle.   The couple were members of the Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, Michigan.

Greg, age 64, passed away on Sunday; August 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

To cherish his memory, Greg leaves behind his loving wife of nine years:  Deborah Lynn Pirtle; three sons:  Eric (Laura) Pirtle of Hartland, Michigan, Ryan Pirtle of Highland, Michigan, and Adam Pirtle (Kelli Cymes) of Milford, Michigan; his extended family:  Sharla (Kyle) Hamann of Brownstown, Michigan and Katie (Wally) Krzemien of Flat Rock, Michigan; his parents:  Joe and Sheila Pirtle; mother-in-law:  Eva Sprinkle of Marion, North Carolina; and eight grandchildren:  Ella and Oaklee Pirtle; Olivia, Lucy, Sadie and Audrey Hamann, and Sophie and Wesley Krzemien.
