Obituary of Jeffrey Allan Fulghum
Jeffrey Allan Fulghum was born on May 28, 1967 in Lakeland, Florida to Walter and Grace (Wilson) Fulghum. He graduated from Lakeland High School and stayed in the area until moving with his family to Monroe, Michigan in 2000.
Jeff was employed as a truck driver for more than thirty years. For much of that time he operated his own truck as an independent contractor, most recently he drove for Bektrom and Sofo Foods. His work took him all over the country and beyond. Jeff had visited all 48 contiguous States and traveled throughout Canada and up the infamous “ice road” into Alaska. If he could’ve driven to Hawaii he would’ve done so! When his kids were young he would take them along for the ride. As children, the long hours on the road seemed boring but they now cherish those memories of spending time with their father.
On Independence Day 2021, Jeffrey, was joined in marriage to his love, Jennifer Krueger, at the Monroe VFW Post 1138. Together, they enjoyed riding Jeff’s 2015 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited alongside family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and spending time with his grandchildren. Jeff’s rough exterior hid a giant heart. If you were a friend to him, he wouldn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. He was never short of a laugh.
Jeffrey Allan Fulghum, age 54, of Monroe, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 only two months after the tragic loss of his daughter, Lisa Fulghum. At his passing he provided life to others through his selfless donation to Gift of Life Michigan as did Lisa. In addition to his daughter, Jeff was preceded by his father and infant son: Arthur Lee Fulghum.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife: Jenny Fulghum; mother: Grace Fulghum; children: Chris (Ivy) Fulghum, April (Branden) Morrison and Coty (Sarah) Fulghum; son in-law: Kevin Haynes; grandchildren: Sabastain, RoRie, Bourbon, Gibson and Quinton; sisters: Sandra Biggs and Annette Ingram; brothers: Billy Fulghum, Bobby Fulghum and David Fulghum; mother in-law: Linda Krueger; and former wife: Kelley (Lonnie) Lambert.
Friends may gather on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 1:00–6:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Jeffrey’s Life will follow at 6:00pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor “Hot Rod” presiding.
