Obituary of Robert Joseph Hass
Robert Joseph Hass, 82, of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away Thursday; May 17, 2018, at his residence surrounded by family while under the care of ProMedica Hospice.
He was born on January 10, 1936, in Richfield, Ohio, Robert was the son of Joseph Andrew and Esther Catherine (Borck) Hass. He was a Burnham High School Graduate in Sylvania, Ohio. He served in the United States Marine Corps from March 1953 until March 1956. Robert married the former, Marcia Faunce, on June 9, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church also in Sylvania. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Lynn C. Weeman Post 514. Robert was a football coach for CYO, youth football, and Ida 7th and 8th grade football teams. He loved to golf, fish, and garden (tomato plants). He was an active part of his grandchildren’s lives often attending their sporting events, was a common fixture at Ida sporting events, and loved to coach.
To cherish his memory he left his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Marcia; a son, Robert Patrick Hass; three daughters, Christine Hass, Mary Kaye (Gordy) Heck, and Wendy (Dave) Komorowski; five grandchildren, Ashley (Kevin) Snyder, Justin (Danielle) Heck, Andrew (Amanda) Edelbrock, Katelyn (Todd) Hodge, and Teagan Hass; and ten great grandchildren. His passing was preceded by his parents and five siblings, Mary Buchanan, Joe, Chuck, Frank, and Butch Hass.
The Hass family wishes to express a special acknowledgement to ProMedica Hospice especially Lori, Chris, Molly, Chaplain Mike, and granddaughter Ashley for their superior care.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Saturday; August 28, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2238 Manhattan Street in Erie, Michigan where he and Marcia will lie-in-state. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 1:00pm with Monsignor Bill Kubacki officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Erie for burial where graveside services will be under the auspices of Erie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3925.
