Obituary of Allan Curtis Kaufman Sr.
Allan Curtis Kaufman was born on May 15, 1965, in Monroe, Michigan to Thomas Donald Kaufman and Judy Gail (Moyers) May. Allan attended Trenary High School in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. On June 26, 1987, he wed the former Sherrie Michelle Fields at Grape Missionary Baptist Church. They enjoyed thirty-four years of marriage and were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Allan was employed as a press operator at L & W Engineering for ten years, retiring in 1996.
Allan was an excellent pool player and had been practicing since he was a child. He’d only give two shots to beat him, which no one could accomplish. He was also skilled at horseshoes. Allan enjoyed fishing, often casting a line in from the shores of Sterling State Park. He was very social and loved to gather with family and friends. Allan was always the designated cook and specialized in smoking meats on the grill. A kindhearted person who would do anything for anyone, he often worked on bicycles for people in the neighborhood.
Allan Curtis Kaufman Sr., age 56, of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, mother: Judy May; step-mother: Donna Kaufman; father in-law: Clyde Fields; mother in law: Eva Fields, and sister in-law: Sharon Kaufman.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife: Sherrie Kaufman, children: Allan (Theresa) Kaufman Jr., Adam Kaufman (Amanda Dekemper), Amanda Kaufman (Scott Beckington), and Andrew Kaufman (Joi Davis), father: Thomas Kaufman, brothers: Darrell Kaufman, Jim (Gayle) MacMullen, and Willie (Caroline) MacMullen, grandchildren: Curtis Allan Kaufman, Aeiva Marchese, Isaiah Christian, Isabelle Clayton, Allison Kaufman, Noah Kaufman, Hunter Pacheco, and Wyatt Beckington, special friend: Karl Witbeck, and canine companion: a one year old Shetland Sheepdog named “Daisy”.
Friends may gather on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 10:30am – 1:30pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:30pm, also at Merkle’s, followed by a procession to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan.
