Ian Lengel

Obituary of Ian Lengel

Please share a memory of Ian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ian Reece Lengel was stillborn into this world at 7:06 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. One minute prior to Ian's birth, his twin brother: Declan entered the world. The beautiful boys, a gift from Heaven, were from the union of Christine (Higgins) Lengel and Matthew Lengel. Christine and Matthew had anxiously been looking forward to the gift of their twin boys. It would be a crazy addition to their home which already included a fourteen month old son: Damion. The twins most certainly would have enjoyed rough housing with their big brother, and he most certainly would have looked after them. The joyous news of Christine's pregnancy came just twenty-nine weeks ago. Ian and Declan never had the chance to meet on this side of the womb, but have an everlasting bond. Although his earthly life was short, the joy he brought and the lives he touched were immense. His passing was preceded by paternal grandfather: Albert Lengel Jr.; maternal great grandparents: Barbara & Richard Higgins; paternal great grandparents: Margaret & Albert Lengel Sr.; maternal great grandfather: Donald Dines; paternal great grandfather: Marvin Venzke; and an aunt: Jennifer Higgins. Ian's memory will forever be cherished by his parents: Matthew and Christine (Higgins) Lengel of Toledo; his twin brother: Declan and older big brother: Damion; maternal grandparents: Penny and Patrick Higgins of Monroe; paternal grandparents: Jay and Gloria Eenigenburg of Milbury, Ohio; maternal great grandmother: Beverly Dines; paternal great grandmother: Phyllis Venzke; maternal uncle: Shaun (Vickie) Higgins of Monroe; paternal aunt: Patricia Elders of Williston, Ohio; and many great aunts, uncles, and cousins. No public services are planned, and cremation has taken place. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements. Memorial donations for those who desire are suggested to the family. Online guests may leave words of inspiration and comfort, make a donation, or send a floral arrangement by visiting www.merklefs.com and then selecting the Online Tributes page.
