Obituary of Virginia Jane Omler
Virginia Poole was born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1933. She was one of two daughters born from the union of George and Mary (Davidson) Poole. Virginia would meet and eventually marry the love of her life: James Omler. Together, the couple would be blessed with the birth of nine children.
To help provide for her family, Virginia, would gain employment at Mercy Hospital as a housekeeper for more than twenty-three years. Virginia was not one to sit still. With having such a large family, canning was a must. She had floor to ceiling shelving to hold all her home canned goods. She also enjoyed tossing strikes at the Nortel Lanes, while bowling in her many leagues. This activity of hers was cut short when Virginia suffered an arm injury. She was known to be quite feisty and an avid Euchre player and played by the “Hoyle” rules. She was often referred to as a real “card shark” and would play weekly, rotating homes as the hostess with sisters Theresa, JoAnn, Jean, and Mary.
Virginia loved the time she was able to spend with her family, especially with her grandchildren, getting together for birthdays or just sitting back to talk and visit. She was well known for creating beautiful Afghans and crocheting blankets for her family members. Virginia was also quite the game show enthusiast, whether it be Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, or Jeopardy, she was always able to give a slew of correct answers! She also relished to just be still and watch squirrels and other outdoor creatures frolic in the yard.
Virginia was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church regularly attending Mass until she wasn’t physically able.
