Obituary of Karen Diane Curley
Karen Diane Curley was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 23, 1967. She was the daughter of Lyle Henry Curley and Shirley Ann (Aichler) Curley. As a young girl, she enjoyed playing softball and for many years she was even coached by her father. Karen attended Monroe High School graduating with the Class of 1986. Karen had a desire to serve in law enforcement, and for many years was a member of the Monroe County Sheriff Explorers program.
Even after her own days of playing had ended, Karen continued by giving back to her community. She was a no-nonsense umpire for Custer Ball for many years. Karen was employed in security for Roberts Security for some time before taking a position with General Mills in Toledo where her father was employed starting in 1989. Karen worked as a Fork-Lift Operator for the food processing and manufacturing company. It later became known as Hometown Food Company.
Karen for the most part kept to herself. She appreciated her privacy, but enjoyed spending time with her daughter Mel. The two had a passion for everything Disney and in fact had visited the Florida theme park on several occasions. They had also visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal Studios. Karen loved Star Wars, attending Renaissance festivals, and Lord of the Rings. She was an avid University of Michigan fan, loved basketball, and had been trained in karate.
