Theresa Poupard

Obituary of Theresa Marie Poupard

Theresa Marie Poupard was born April 20, 1957 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of four children born from the union of the late William and Carol (Plumb) Poupard.   She attended Monroe Public Schools.

For many years she made her home with Michael Derigo.   The couple would be blessed with the birth of two children, and the joy of Theresa’s life was having the ability to be a stay-at-home mother for Sarah and Christopher.

Theresa knew that food had the ability to bring people together, and she was more than happy to provide homecooked crowd favorites to her dinner guests.  The family would gather around the table enjoying “s.o.s.”, or fantastic desserts, often being told she baked the best banana nut muffins and bread.   None of her meals were complete without a tasty glass of her special raspberry tea to quench thirst and wash it all down.

Theresa loved to scroll through Facebook.   This allowed her the ability to stay connected with family and friends.   She treasured these relationships and was thankful to keep up with the happenings of those who lived out of town.   Above anything, Theresa valued her family, specifically the time she spent with grandchildren, but especially with her granddaughter, Alyssa.

Theresa was born with a green thumb and displayed her natural talent by simply keeping plants alive.   One of her most prized accomplishments was that of nurturing a “Devil’s Ivy” plant for more than ten years.   It has been stated that this plant signifies health, wealth, prosperity, and happiness; all characteristics which Theresa actively sought to possess in her life.

Theresa Marie Poupard, age 64, of Monroe passed away at home on Wednesday; May 19, 2021 at 10:24am, surrounded by her family.   In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by significant other and father of her children:  Michael Derigo; one brother:  Randy Poupard; and an infant sister: Pamela Poupard.

To cherish her memory, she leaves one daughter: Sarah Derigo; one son: Christopher Derigo; one brother: Joe Poupard; and two granddaughters: Alyssa Logan and Harper Eads.
