Obituary of John Anthony Ortiz

John Anthony Ortiz was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 24, 1965.   He was the son of the late John Damas Ortiz and Maria Elena (Flores) Ortiz Allor.   He graduated with the Class of 1983 from Erie Mason High School.   From a young age, John, had a love of country and a desire to serve.  He signed up for early enlistment in 1981 and following his graduation shipped out as a member of the United States Army.   John obtained the rank of Specialist during his service being honorably discharged in September of 1989.

John was very musically inclined.  He participated in several bands and especially enjoying playing the drums.  He loved to attend concerts and his favorite groups were always heavy metal.   He also enjoyed drawing anything specializing in portraits and comic books.

A master in the kitchen, John, was a fantastic cook, and he loved to share recipes with others.   He spent twelve years employed as a chef for the Monroe Golf and Country Club.   Most recently, he had been employed by Angelo’s Chop House in the same capacity.

In many ways, John, was larger than life.   He was sensitive with a big heart.   John was quite hilarious and liked to make others laugh.   He would be blessed with two children:  Abby and Adrian from his union with Priscilla Hebner.

Big John, age 55, of Monroe passed away at his home unexpectedly on Saturday; March 20, 2021.   In addition to his father his passing was preceded by a brother:  Michael Ortiz and several uncles.

To cherish his memory he leaves two children:  Adrian (Presley) Ortiz of El Paso, Texas and Abby Ortiz (Kavel Stewart) of Fort Worth, Texas; his mother:  Maria E. Allor of Erie; two brothers:  Alex Ortiz of Erie and Frank (Rashelle) Ortiz of LaSalle; three grandchildren:  De’Mira Stewart, Anthony Ortiz, and Avery Ortiz; seven nieces and nephews:  Samantha Ortiz (Samuel Howard), Sabrina Ortiz, Nicole (Andrew) Parks, Matt White, Amy Wronkowicz, Alexa Ortiz, and Zaithan Ortiz; and his feline companions:  Steve and Waffle.
