Obituary of Marion Grace Schneider

Maryon Grace Radloff was born on October 30, 1925 in Taylor, Michigan. She was one of five children born to the union of Tolson and Grace (Wolfgram) Radloff. Maryon was a 1944 graduate of Melvindale High School.

Her first marriage was to Arnold E. Spence.  Later, she was joined in marriage to Harold H. Schneider on November 26, 1960 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in South Rockwood.   Maryon became an active parishioner of Faith United Methodist Church after moving to the Monroe area in 1967. She was a member of the “We Too” social group, Circle Leader, Trustee, Acolyte, Communion Steward, and was the designated soup-maker for luncheons held at the church.

As a young woman Maryon was a talented roller-skating dancer, spending many hours at the Mayflower Roller Rink in Taylor. A social butterfly, Maryon enjoyed dining out with her friends, who gave themselves the moniker: “the eatin’ out gang” and attending events hosted by the Red Hat Society. She was an avid collector of many items, including pewter miniatures and all things butterflies – so much so that she became known as the “Butterfly Grandma”. Maryon crocheted beautiful afghans with her favorite pink needle, ensuring every grandchild had their own blanket.

Maryon Grace Schneider, age 95, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Wellspring Lutheran Services.   Her passing was preceded by her parents, her husband Harold; an infant daughter: Linda Spence; two brothers: Robert and Roy Radloff, a sister: Doris Jamieson, and three grandchildren:  Nancy and Craig Nadeau and Robbie Leonard.
