Obituary of Lorin Toeppe
Lorin Elizabeth Toeppe was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 18, 1981. She was one of three daughters and three sons born to Donald and Sharon (Jenkins) Toeppe Jr. Lorin was a 1999 graduate of Monroe High School, where she lettered as a member of the Trojan swim team. She furthered her studies by completing the Physical Therapy Assistant’s Program at Owens Community College.
Lorin’s lifelong dream was to live on the coast where the sun shines year-round. In her mid-twenties she fulfilled her dream by moving to San Diego where she would find a career assisting in rehab at a skilled nursing facility. She was able to bless countless lives through her compassionate care and true love of her job. Lorin enjoyed exploring the outdoors by hiking and bike riding, watching the Chargers play football, and especially playing beach volleyball, which soon became her main interest. Anyone who crossed her path could not help but to be taken in by her bright blue eyes and sweet disposition. Her faith in God was established at a young age attending Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe, Michigan, and continuing her walk with the Lord at The Rock Church in San Diego, California.
In 2013, Lorin suffered extreme injuries after a two-ton tree branch crushed her in Mission Bay Park. She persevered with great courage and determination through substantial obstacles to recover from the accident. Lorin successfully fought to change state law to protect future individuals who suffer from similar accidents.
