Obituary of Shane Tomlinson

Shane Michael Tomlinson was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 14, 1967. He was the son of the late Robert Jude Tomlinson and Jacqueline (Sisung) Tomlinson Chinavare. Shane loved to work. He was extremely dedicated and always led others by example as a hard-worker his entire life. For more than twenty-five years he supported himself as a self-employed roofer. More than anything, Shane cherished his family relationships. He was not afraid to show affection and happily shared his love with hugs and kisses. Not having any children of his own, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephew. He was especially close to his mother, referring to her as his "Rock". Shane had a great sense of humor and he was genuinely funny and a joy to be around. He was a generous and giving person. Shane didn't care about material possessions and readily shared whatever he had, time and possessions with those around him. Being very humble, Shane never liked the spotlight to be cast on him, and often deflected any attention that came his way. Shane also had a love and respect for animals. He loved the outdoors, and Shane enjoyed spending time at the beach; whether making his home in Michigan or Florida. He was also an avid fisherman. Even after a diagnosis with cancer in May of 2013, Shane kept a positive attitude and he had fought valiantly. Shane Michael Tomlinson age 47 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home. In addition to his father his passing was preceded by his grandparents. To cherish his memory he leaves a loving mother: Jacqueline (Richard) Chinavare of Newport; two sisters: Heather (Jerry) Tomlinson-Alfred and Tracy (Robert) Tomlinson-Bathgate both of Monroe; one brother: Walker Tomlinson of Romulus; two nieces: Kennedi Kane and McKenzie Kane; and one nephew: Jacob Carlisle. Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm with the Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan.
