Obituary of Raymond Vanisacker

Raymond A. Vanisacker was born August 24, 1916 in Monroe, Michigan. Raymond was the son of Cyril Vanisacker and Alice (Ackue) Vanisacker. He attended Monroe High School.
Raymond married the love of his life, Viola Kettinger on September 24, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church. Together they would make their home in Frenchtown Township where Viola still resides. They shared more than seventy years of marriage and many memories together. From this union the Vanisacker's have a son: James (Kathy) Vanisacker of Monroe; and a daughter: Judy Demuth of Ida, Michigan; a second infant son: Herbert Vanisacker passed away. They were also blessed with the birth of five grandchildren: Carrie (Chay) Smith of Ferndale, Michigan; Scott (Amy) Vanisacker of Newport, Michigan; Krista (Mike) Girrbach of Tipton, Michigan; Julie (Doug) Jackson of Dexter, Michigan; and Michelle (William) Gay of New York; and twelve wonderful great grandchildren.
Raymond for many years worked as a long distance truck driver. He enjoyed the freedom that the open road provided. His employment was with Trans-American Freight Lines and the Detroit Stoker Company. Raymond was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 299. He retired in 1972. In his free time Raymond enjoyed a good round of golf, and he was also an avid fisherman; casting more than a few lines over the years.
Raymond was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Raymond A. Vanisacker, age 92 of Frenchtown Township went to be with his Savior, Thursday, April 9, 2009. He was a resident of the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He had been in declining health for a week. In addition to his son and parents his passing was preceded by two sisters: Margaret Greer and Eleanor Day; and a brother: Richard Vanisacker.
Friends may gather from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am, Monday, April 13, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township (734) 384-5185. The Rev. Ross Ulrich and The Rev. Gary Tryggestad pastors of Zion Lutheran Church will co-officiate. Procession will then follow to Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Monroe for burial.
