Obituary of Robert Fred Fritzler
Robert Fred Fritzler was born on January 7, 1933 in Engadine, Michigan to the union of Gottfried and Molly (Schneider) Fritzler. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, Bob was joined in marriage to Peggy Ann Harris on June 4, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee, Michigan. He graduated from Monroe County Community College with an Associate Degree in Industrial Arts and was employed as a maintenance welder for Tecumseh Products for forty-six years, retiring in 1996.
Bob was a generous and humble man who gave of himself by volunteering at Monroe County REACT Emergency Services and Caring and Sharing Food Pantry in Dundee. Bob could often be found tinkering in his garage and lending a helping hand to many friends and family members with various projects. Bob and his wife vacationed in Zephryhills, Florida annually for over twenty years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in Northern Michigan. More than anything else, Bob was a proud grandfather. He loved having family gatherings and enjoyed cheering them on in various sporting events.
Robert Fred Fritzler, age 87, of Dundee, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 1, 2021. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Jeffrey Fritzler, daughter in-law: Sally Fritzler, brothers: Albert, Arnold, and Jerry Fritzler, sister in-law: Rita Fritzler, and grandson: Luke Raddatz.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-five years: Peggy Fritzler, daughters: Julie (Mark) Smith and Jill Gray, sisters: Edna Burgess, Ruth Garlough, and Lillian Fritzler, sisters in-law: Betty and Ruth Fritzler, grandchildren: David (Allison) Fritzler, Asja (Will) Leonard, Jeremy (Cynthia) Raddatz, Amanda (Craig Mash) Fritzler, Larry Gray, Logan Gray, Anna Smith, Lucas Raddatz-Smith, Kenny (Michelle) Fix, and Matt (Tonya) Fix, many great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Due to Covid-19, a private family service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Dundee, Michigan on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery with military honors.
