Obituary of Eric Dupree Hood

Eric Dupree Hood was born on July 16, 1968 in Monroe, Michigan to the union of Jacob Bailey and Ada Ruth (Smith) Hood Sr. He attended Monroe County Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree. Eric was a parishioner of Oaks of Righteousness Christian Ministries in Monroe.

Known to his friends and family as “E”, Eric had a big and vibrant personality. A jokester, he greeted everyone with a smile, and no one could resist his infectious laughter. Everyone received a nickname from Eric. He enjoyed being behind the turntable at house parties and getting everyone dancing and singing. He also joined his friends in singing as group with coordinated outfits. An avid Prince fan, Eric was fortunate to have seen him perform live in the early nineties. More than anything else, he loved his mother dearly.

Eric Dupree Hood, age 52, of Monroe, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Ada Hood, sisters: Lavonda “Von” and Laticia, and nephew Christopher

To cherish his memory, he leaves three Children: Shannon Turner, EJ (Courtney) Hood, and Angelique Turner, sisters: Daphne Hood and Crystal Hood, brothers: Jacob “Spuddy” Hood Jr. and Quaza, granddaughters: Sophie Turner and Zoie Turner, many nieces and nephews, a great nephew, and a host of friends. 

Family and friends may gather on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Homegoing Celebration officiated by Pastor Heather Boone will begin at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe at 2:00 p.m. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the State of Michigan’s mandates, guests will be limited in number, face coverings will be required, and no food or beverages will be permitted inside the building.
