Betty Budzios

Obituary of Betty Nell Budzios

Betty Nell Skampo was born February 22, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio. She was one of six children born from the union of Frank J. and Helen M. (Breneman) Skampo. After attending and graduating from Ida High School in 1940, Betty would meet and later marry the love of her life: Adolph J. Budzios, Sr. on June 28, 1941. This union would be blessed with two sons.

As a young girl, Betty lived on a farm in Ida until she was 18 when she moved to Avalon Beach. Betty was known for being a down to Earth type of person. In fact, when her beach house flooded seven times, Betty was not fazed.  As a very disciplined and take-charge person, Betty was extremely organized and an exceptional planner.

Above anything, Betty loved her family. She was a very caring, kind, and loving mother. She enjoyed flower gardening and it seemed Betty could make roses grow, no matter where they were planted. She relished taking a leisure drive to the west side of Michigan.

Betty would volunteer as the lunchtime supervisor at St. John Catholic School where her sons and grandchildren attended during their elementary school years. Betty was a member of the St. john Catholic Church since 1946. She was also gainfully employed at Willow Run Airport Bomber Plant, during World War II, working on the wings of bomber airplanes. She also was hired at Weis’s Paper Company in Monroe.
