Obituary of Janice Elaine Jenkins
Janice Elaine Jenkins was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 26, 1954. She was one of three children born to Billy Jenkins and Alma (England) Jenkins. Janice was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She valued hard work and always held a job to support her family. Janice was a selfless woman who would assist anyone in need without hesitation. Even when her budget was tight, she would always find extra funds to help someone. Joshua 24:15 – “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord” spoke to Janice. A strong faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her every thought and action.
Janice was a collector and had a home full of antiques. She enjoyed feeding the ducks at the park and visiting the movie theater to catch the newest release with her daughter. When her son and his family would come to visit from across the country she’d keep the road hot, hitting all their favorite places, dining out, watching movies, and shopping at the mall.
Janice always had a large assortment of coffee on hand for morning visits from her son and daughter in-law, which were inevitably filled with laughter. Above all else, her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her granddaughter loved to cuddle with her on the couch and her grandson loved to visit her because, unlike at home, there were no rules. He could make a huge mess and she would just laugh and smile! Janice was an amazing mother and “grammy” and will be greatly missed.
Janice Jenkins, age 66, of Monroe, passed away on peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. She was preceded by her parents.
To cherish her memory, Janice leaves her children: Joshua (Stacie) Woods and Janessa Marksberry; beloved grandchildren: Joslyn Woods and Mason Woods; sister: Joyce (John) Sam; and brother: Jerry (Denise) Jenkins.
Family and friends may gather Tuesday November 3, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of her celebration of life at 5:00 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the State of Michigan’s mandates, for both the gathering and celebration of life, guests will be limited in number, face coverings will be required for entry and no food or beverages will be permitted in the building.
