Obituary of Judy Sapp

Judy Sapp was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 28, 1964. She was the daughter of the late John Evans and Doris Marie (White) Thornton. She attended Ross Medical School in Flint, Michigan and later earned a certificate in computer sciences. Judy moved to Monroe in 2003 from the Flint area. She married Robert Bruce Burris on August 28, 2009 in Toledo, Ohio. Judy was a homemaker, proudly taking care of her family. She loved her children very much. Judy always put others before herself. She had a strong, beautiful heart and soul. She was sweet and uplifting and always had a positive energy about her. Judy was a giving person who never asked for anything. She just wanted everyone she met to be happy and to see them smile. Judy was also very creative and loved to decorate. She had a very pretty voice and loved to share it with song. Judy Sapp, age 49 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 7, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, John Evans. To cherish her memory, Judy leaves her loving husband: Robert Burris; six children: Anthony Turhon Thornton of Columbus, Ohio, Brandon Rashard Thornton of Monroe, Elesheia Lacher Thornton of Monroe, Robert Dometric Burris of Monroe, Julian Burris of Monroe, and Zyonna Amber Burris of Monroe; two sisters: Ramona Campbell of Flint and Karenise Lashawn (Jeffrey) Westbrook; a brother: Tony Campbell of Taylor; and four grandchildren: Brandon R. Thornton Jr, Tray Allan, Breyella Thornton, and Gabriell Thornton. Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow 1:00pm, with Pastor Alfred Overstreet of Al Overstreet Evangelistic Ministry, officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
