Beverly Ann (Powell) McLaughlin was born in S. Rockwood, Michigan on February 13, 1933. She was one of four children born from the union of the late Robert Powell and the late Louise (Osborn) Powell. For more than fifteen years, Beverly worked for the United States Postal Service as a Post Office Clerk. She proudly served as a member of the Postal Service Union (APWU). Beverly was also the first employee to work as a receptionist with Dr. Joseph Hunt's practice in Carleton. She married Lester McLaughlin of Carleton on July 26, 1978. They both loved to travel and play bingo. Lester went home with the Lord on January 1, 1998. As a young woman, Beverly was very outgoing, a socialite, she thoroughly enjoyed life. She enjoyed the comfort of her home and loved to keep her home warm and inviting by cooking, baking, and entertaining. Beverly was very outgoing and community minded. After retirement she served on the Board of Leasing for the Carleton Co-Op, a member of the Carleton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4093 Ladies Auxiliary. Beverly McLaughlin age 80 of Carleton, Michigan passed away peacefully at Medilodge of Monroe on Sunday, January 5, 2014. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her daughter: Gaye Ross, a sister: Shirley, and two brothers: Robert Powell and Richard Powell. To cherish her memory, Beverly leaves three sons: Robert (Debe Hart-Hoover) Heiss of Carleton; Earl (Ethel) Heiss of Carleton; and Lyle (Liz) Heiss of Carleton; a son-in-law: Gary Ross of Carleton; a sister: Evelyn (Powell) Elliott; ten grandchildren: Leslie (Shane), Geoffrey (Robin),Carl (Rita), Paul (Laura), Andrew (Lynn), Shane, Dakota, Montana, Sara, Lindsay (Bill); and twelve great-grandchildren. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. A memorial service luncheon is being planned by the family for January 18th at 1 p.m. at Ash Township Firemen's Hall.
