Obituary of Sybil Burchfield

Please share a memory of Sybil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sybil Lucille Carroll was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on May 11, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Carroll and the late Pearl (Vaughn) Carroll. Sybil attended Monroe Schools graduating from Monroe High School in 1950. Sybil married John Henry Burchfield on April 7, 1952, and from this union came the birth of three daughters. For many years she was self-employed as the owner and operator of the Locker Room Bar. Sybil was friendly and outgoing; she had the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She always enjoyed socializing and entertaining company. Sybil loved the time she spent at the "Locker Room" and cherished the lifelong relationships she developed. Sybil was very well-rounded and enjoyed many "Southern Bell" interests including canning, cooking from scratch, and sewing beautiful quilts by hand. In her free time, she often visited area thrift and antique shops. She treasured the love of family and animals; looking forward to family gatherings, and playing games and cards with the children. Sybil was an avid reader often completing a book a day, and gardener enjoying the bounty that it provided. Sybil Burchfield, age 82 of Monroe, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband: John Burchfield; three sisters: Joyce Long, Sonia Cronenwett, and Bernice Waugh; and one brother: Don Carroll.
