Obituary of Shirley Bergeron

Shirley A. Bergeron was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 13, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Vincent and Bernadette (Charbeneau) Vincent. Shirley attended Hazel Park High School where she received her Diploma. Shirley married the love of her life, Michael Bergeron on August 26, 1961 in Hazel Park, Michigan. From this union came the birth of their two daughters. Shirley supported her family as a Clerk for Detroit Optical Center for over 16 years. She received her spiritual nourishment from Gilead Baptist Church in Allen Park. Shirley was a caring individual with a bubbly personality. Family was most important to her. She loved family get togethers and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband annually to the Upper Peninsula and to their home in Lakeworth, Florida where they were "snow birds" for 16 years. She enjoyed walking the beach, eating out at their favorite restraints and going to the movies on the weekends. In her quiet time, she fulfilled her passion of flower gardening. Shirley A. Bergeron, age 71 of Newport, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at home. She was preceded by her parents. To cherish her memory, Shirley leaves her loving husband of 52 years: Michael Bergeron; two daughters: Shelley (Brien) Desrosiers of Newport and Kathy (Mike) Henneman of Trenton; four grandchildren: Ryan Desrosiers, Brandon Desrosiers, Kayla Henneman, and Lauren Henneman; and a brother: Leonard (Mary Jane) Vincent. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 20, 2013 also at Merkle's with Pastor Hopkins of Gilead Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will take place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia.
