Obituary of Christopher Henry Shiraef
Christopher Henry Shiraef was born in Jackson, Michigan on January 7, 1954. He was the only child born from the union of Henry A. Shiraef and Arleen Lorena (Bendall) Shiraef. As a young boy, Christopher’s father would pass away, and this of course brought a strong bond with him to his mother. Christopher was extremely intelligent and proudly graduated with honors from Jackson High School with the Class of 1972. He furthered his education by attending the University of Michigan on scholarship.
Life brought Christopher to Dundee where he would make his home. In 2003, Christopher would meet David and Irma Kubiske. He took employment with them as a laborer helping to prepare their new state of the art office in Downtown Dundee. Christopher’s strong work ethic and his vast knowledge quickly impressed the Kubiskes. His employment with David Arthur Consultants, Inc., a civil engineering and land survey company, would span the next seventeen years until his untimely passing. Over the years, his responsibilities also grew from being a general laborer to being a trusted Survey Crew Chief. His computer and technical skills were astounding as was his math and ability to problem solve.
Christopher enjoyed socializing with others, and in fact had met one of his closest confidants, Deliah McClean at Frankies, his favorite watering hole. He was known for his generosity particularly with his time and his kindhearted nature. He was very accepting of others regardless of their shortcomings. Christopher filled much of his free time reading various material, especially enjoying researching history, and was a frequent visitor to the Dundee Library. He was a master of trivia.
Christopher Henry Shiraef, age 66, of Dundee passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. His passing was preceded by his parents. His memory will forever be cherished by dear friend: Delilah, several co-workers, close friends, and cousins.
Friends are encouraged to bring their favorite tales and are invited to gather from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. Inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson in the near future.
