Obituary of Leonard Ray Johnson
Leonard Ray Johnson was born January 18, 1960 in Rita, West Virginia. He was one of thirteen children from the union of Hubert L. and Audrey L. (Ramsey) Johnson. Leonard met the love of his life, Lydia Hundley and married her on August 12, 1979 in Logan, West Virginia. The couple then made their way to Monroe in 1985 to start their family.
Leonard was a very loving man and had an infectious personality. In fact, he never met a stranger as he was a friend to everyone. Family was of the utmost importance to Leonard and they all were his greatest joy. He truly cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Not afraid of hard work, Leonard labored as a bricklayer for most of his career. This job allowed him to provide for his family.
In his quiet time, Leonard would meticulously toil in his yard, which allowed his garden to produce multitudes of beautiful vegetables.
He enjoyed spending time with his trusty sidekick, his dog, Mocco. In Leonard’s last few years, he was able to enjoy retirement, exploring life’s adventures, with his wife, Lydia by his side.
