Eileen Gould

Obituary of Eileen Mary Gould

Eileen Mary Krutty was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on July 5, 1935.   She was the second oldest of four children born from the union of the late Peter and Julia (Pasco) Krutty.   At an early age the family moved to Michigan.   Eileen attended MaKenzie High School in Detroit graduating with the Class of 1953.

She married George Gifford in 1954.   The couple would be blessed with two children:  Paul and Julie, and Eileen would care for her family as a homemaker.   George passed away in December of 1969.   On February 16, 1973 in Detroit, Eileen, would marry, Donald J. Gould, and they would welcome a daughter:  Lynne.   The family worshipped at St. Patrick Church in Carleton.  Donald would pass away on August 17, 2014.   Eileen’s family always came first, but she spent time employed as a bank teller for National Bank of Detroit, and many years later working retail at the Frenchtown Square Mall.

To Eileen, cherishing loved ones meant taking a special interest in their activities.   She was an ever-present force in the lives of her children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.   She often awed those around her with lifelong love of reading.   Her interests varied from historical romance to mystery and it was nothing for her to read hundreds of books each year.

Eileen also had a fascination with travel.   She enjoyed visiting family back home in Pennsylvania and many trips were made to Florida to visit a favorite aunt.   She had happily visited Alaska twice on cruises.   Eileen enjoyed being outdoors camping and riding ATV’s.   She and Don took pleasure in overnight boat trips on Lake St. Clair and many fishing excursions on Lake Erie.   Many memories were made in Northern Michigan at the family cottage in Wellston.   Later in life Eileen traveled the country with Lynne touring horse shows.

The last few years one of the highlights of her week was Wednesday night canasta with her girlfriends.

Eileen Mary Gould, age 84, of Carleton passed away at home on Sunday, June 28, 2020.   She had been under the care of Elara Caring Hospice.   In addition to her parents and her two husbands; her passing was preceded by an infant brother:  Peter Krutty and a brother:  Michael Krutty.

To cherish her memory she leaves three children:  Paul (Denise) Gifford of Southgate, Julie (Steven) Sugarbaker of Carleton, Lynne Gebski of Fenton; one brother:  Paul (Laurie) Krutty of Windsor, Canada; seven grandchildren:  Joseph Davis, Christy Dankovcik, Shaun Davis, Shannon Johnson, Jennifer Godbout, Jami Davis, Greysen Gebski; thirteen great grandchildren:  Ryan, Tylor, Shelby, Gage, Jadyn, Ashton, Kylie, Bridget, Collin, Owen, Stella, Ellie and Jaxon; one great-great granddaughter:  Emily.
