Thomas Baehr

Obituary of Thomas William Baehr

Thomas (Tom) William Baehr, was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 29, 1970.   He was one of three children born from the union of Dennis Baehr and Kathryn (Barton) Baehr.   Thomas attended Jefferson schools and graduated with the Class of 1989.

Thomas wasn’t afraid of work and was more than capable of providing for his family.   He worked for several different employers prior to finding a position at the Kroger store in Monroe as a stock person.

Thomas enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisher and was often accompanied by his good friend, Dave Daniels or his brother, Greg Baehr.  To family and friends, it came as no surprise that Tom was an avid online shopper as well and was more than happy to show you all the gadgets he had purchased. Although, he wasn’t overly keen on exercise, Thomas, enjoyed a refreshing swim in the quarry from time to time.

A homebody by nature, Thomas, truly enjoyed the company of his family and friends.   He was especially attentive to the needs of his granddaughter, Hayden.   Thomas being very handy was quite proud to have painstakingly built her a beautiful playhouse with his oldest son, Thomas Baehr, II.   He was also more than willing to help others in need with his mechanical abilities.   Thomas cherished his yorkie mix dog, Lacey.   His children commented jokingly that the dog was more loved than they were, but they all knew it not to be true.  In fact, Thomas would dote on all his kids, and he always had to brag about their accomplishments and mention their names when he was hanging out with his friends or updating his coworkers.

Thomas William Baehr, age 49, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home.

To cherish his memory, Thomas leaves two sons:  Thomas William Baehr, II of Monroe and Jordan (Stephanie) Baehr of Monroe; two daughters:  Gabrielle Baehr (Austin Gorowski) of Maybee and Isabella Baehr (Bryce Pillette) of Monroe; his parents: Dennis and Kathryn Baehr of Monroe; one brother:  Greg (Pam) Baehr of Jonesville, Michigan; and one sister: Danyale (Steve) Boedicker of Newport; one granddaughter: Hayden; and one grandchild on the way in August.

Due to current physical distancing restrictions, the family plans to celebrate his life at a later date.  Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements.   Online guests may leave words of inspiration and comfort or share a photo by visiting www.merklefs.com.
