Georgianna Swalm was my teacher for 2nd and for 3rd grade. She instilled a love for reading that exists to this day. I have fond memories of her reading the "Little House on the Prairie" series as well as "Charley and the Chocolate Factory" to the class. It takes a special person to break a child away from picture books and show them how exciting chapter books can be. I didn't get it until she read to us daily in Boyd School and ignited our imagination. I always wanted to reach out and tell her how much she had meant to me but had no idea how to reach her. I live in Fort Worth, TX now and I carry her memory in my heart. She was very special to me. I can't tell her that but I hope it brings some small comfort to her family to know how much love the children she taught had for her. It was a special time at Boyd Elementary. She befriended me and made me feel special. Children will always remember that.
