Obituary of Martha Marie Dehart

Martha Marie Dehart

September 23, 1923 - February 18, 2020

Martha Marie Brock was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 23, 1923.   She was the daughter of the late Ruben and Irene (Miller) Brock.   She was raised with a large family as she was one of eleven children.

Martha married William K. Dehart on December 12, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio.   The couple would be blessed with four children of their own.   Martha provided for the needs of her husband and children as a homemaker, and for more than thirty years she balanced working in direct sales, selling Home Interiors.

As a young woman, Martha, enjoyed silk flower arranging.   She was a great cook with chicken pot pie being one of her favorite dishes.   She also made fabulous banana cake, which was always requested for birthdays.   Later in life, she enjoyed reading on her kindle with her favorite topics being Danielle Steel Romance and WWII history.

Martha was a member of TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) and the Red Hat Society for many years.   She was outgoing, enjoying travel with visits to Hawaii and Germany among her preferred destinations.

For the past seven years, she had made her home in Monroe after spending the previous seventy-six years in Wayne, Michigan.   Martha was a member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport. She cherished Saturdays when family would visit and enjoy a breakfast.  She loved bacon and pancakes, although at times because of her stage four kidney disease, she couldn’t eat bacon as often as she would like; so, these Saturday breakfasts with her family, were even more of a treat.  These breakfast gatherings usually included four generations although sometimes there were five generations present.

Martha Marie Dehart, age 96, of Monroe passed away at 8:15am on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a daughter:  Grenda Penta; son:  William K. Dehart Jr.; five sisters; and two brothers.

To cherish her memory, Martha leaves a daughter:  Paula Taylor-Greenwell; a son:  John D. Dehart; two sisters:  Velma Welton and Joyce White; one brother:  Raymond Brock; thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
