Julia Cieply was born in Brest, Poland on May 27, 1930. She was the youngest of ten children born of the union of the late Joseph and Emilia (Stefanski) Cieply. Julia grew up in Germany and moved to the United States in 1951. She married Adolfas Kisonas in Detroit, Michigan on October 23, 1954. From this union came the birth of three children. For more than thirty years Julia worked as a cook for the Franciscan Sisters at St. Sebastian Catholic School in Dearborn Heights. Julia was very skilled with her hands. She enjoyed needle work and especially crocheting. To Julia her family was her life, and she lived for her family. Julia was Grandma. She loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and cherished the opportunities to take care of them. Julia enjoyed cooking, canning, and gardening. She moved to Monroe from Kentucky in 2003. Julia Kisonas age 81 of Monroe passed away at 10:01pm, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe after a brief illness. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband Adolfas on July 11, 1981, and all nine of her siblings. To cherish her memory Julia leaves two daughters: Irene (Mark) Kenderes of Independence, Kentucky, and Sandy (Eddie) Dudzic of Glendale, Kentucky; a son: Ray (Kathy) Kisonas of Monroe; six grandchildren: Ryan (Jessica) Kisonas and Nicholas Kisonas, Bryce Kenderes and Stuart Kenderes, and Trey Dudzic and Meris Dudzic; and two great grandchildren: Lucien Dudzic and William Kisonas . Friends may gather from1:00pm until 7:00pm; Tuesday November 22, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Christian Funeral Service will take place at 7:00pm with Father James Smalarz pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating. Private burial will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights where her beloved Adolfas is interred. Memorial donations for those who desire may be made to The Lutheran Home. The Kisonas family wishes to express a special thank you to the Lutheran Home Staff and Volunteers, St. Sebastian Sisters, and the Mercy Memorial Rehabilitation Staff.
