Obituary of Wanda May Arnold

Wanda May Roberts was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 23, 1956.   She was the daughter of Wanis Roberts and Irene Robinson.   She attended Monroe Schools where she would meet her future husband, Alan Jon Arnold.   The couple was married in Monroe on June 30, 1973.

They would be blessed with the birth of two children:  Amy and Alan Jon II “A.J.”.   Wanda cared for the needs of her husband and children as a homemaker.   She was quite proud of her children and loved to spend time with them, with Wanda often being a constant fixture at her children’s events.

Later in life, she would take employment at Kentucky Fried Chicken.   This provided quite a unique work experience since she worked with both of her children and her daughter-in-law.   Wanda was very crafty and thoughtful.   Her children joked about her being a “Hallmarker” for her desire to make and send cards for special occasions to all of the people in her life.

Wanda loved to play bingo and enjoyed visiting the Knight of Columbus Hall in Monroe with her aunt Shirley for spirited games. Through thick and thin, Wanda was an avid Detroit Tiger fan.   She also loved to watch NASCAR with Tony Stewart being her favorite driver.

Wanda May Arnold, age 63, of Monroe passed away at 3:08pm in the emergency department of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2020.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband:  Alan Jon Arnold on October 26, 1996.

To cherish her memory she leaves a daughter:  Amy (James) Russ of Sylvania; a son:  A.J. (Tina) Arnold of Monroe; a brother:  David (Lorraine Mowbray) Thomas of Florida; half-sisters; and a half-brother; five grandchildren:  Malique Williams of California, Latrina (Tyrell) Washington of California, Dugan Forsgren, Anthony (Amy) Voyles, Shawn (Brittany) Voyles all of Monroe; and four great grandchildren:  Kayden, Kaison, Kamden, and Jase.
