Obituary of Julie Ann Allera

Julie Ann Allera was born in Detroit on January 20, 1961. She was one of four children born from the union of the late Robert Lee Thornton and the late Carol M. (Fennessary) Thornton.   She was a 1979 graduate of John Glenn High School in Westland.

Julie was a proud United Automobile Worker for more than forty years.   She supported her family as a machine operator at General Motors, most recently at the Toledo Powertrain facility.

Although, Julie was outspoken and not afraid to share her feelings; she was kind and had a selfless heart.   She often went out of her way to help someone in need.  Julie loved life and lived it to the fullest from riding the roller coasters at Cedar Point, attending Kid Rock concerts, to walking barefoot on the beach.  She always lived in the moment and cherished each experience.   Julie was a consummate advocate of her hometown teams, the University of Michigan football, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Red Wings.

Julie valued family first and foremost.   She was a great mother and her children appreciated her dedication to them, always being available.   She enjoyed spending time with family and friends during the holidays; with her favorites being Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.   Later in life, Julie would be blessed with two granddaughters.   She quickly cherished their relationship more than anything in this world.   When Julie did have time to herself, she could often be found snuggling with her furry companions and watching her favorite movies.

Julie Ann Allera, age 58, of Newport, passed away unexpectedly at her home, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.   In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by a brother: William Thornton.

To cherish her memory, Julie leaves a son: Joseph James (Jillian) Allera of Chelsea; a daughter: Jessica Renee Allera (Jason) of Carleton; a brother: Timothy (Tammy) Thornton of Jackson; a sister: Pamela Cantrell of Monroe; two granddaughters; Victoria and Charlotte, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
