Obituary of Norma Jean Nederhouser

Norma Jean Smith was born in Lima, Ohio on May 15, 1946.   She was the oldest of three children born from the union of the late Norman Floyd Smith and the late Irene Joan (McGee) Smith.   Norma attended Sylvania Schools graduating from the high school with the Class of 1964.

She would marry the love of her life, John Arthur Nederhouser, on May 5, 1979.   The two were the perfect couple, two peas in a pod to say the least.   They enjoyed travel and spending time together.   Norma was a wonderful cook, and amongst other things, it has been said that her fried chicken could not be replicated.

Although, Norma could be stubborn, she was always charming.   The master improvisor, she was a fantastic researcher.   If someone planted a seed, Norma, could certainly find the answer.   Organized and detail oriented, Norma worked in sales for many years.   She was always knowledgeable and passionate about her products, specializing in Jafra Cosmetics and Tupperware.   Norma always attempted to look and be her best, and she encouraged others to do and be the same, their best.

Norma had a zest for life.   She loved people and was very family-oriented.   She was motherly to all, looking out for the best interests of those around her, typically putting everyone else’s needs above her own.

She enjoyed playing games, completing puzzles, scrabble, and dominos.   She had an artistic flair and found her outlet with flower arranging, crocheting, knitting, and drawing.   Even as her health declined and she became dependent on others for her care, Norma still had a smile that would light up the room, and kind words to inspire her caregivers at The Manor.

Norma Jean Nederhouser, age 73, of Perrysburg passed away peacefully at 9:25am on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at The Manor at Perrysburg.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband John on August 26, 2010; and a sister-in-law:  Linda Smith

To cherish her memory Norma leaves one sister:  Tanya Smith (Ken Henley) of Holland, Ohio; one brother:  David Lee Smith of Fremont, Indiana; one nephew:  Jason Smith; one niece:  Melissa (David) West; and one great niece.
