Obituary of Robert Auer

Robert Auer was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 26, 1926.   He was the youngest of two boys born from the union of the late Michael Auer and the late Anna (Fuchs) Auer.   Shortly after graduating from high school in 1944, Bob enlisted in the United States Army.   While serving in the Army during World War II, Robert played softball and was a top-rated pitcher for his team.  He was honorably discharged on July 1, 1946.

In 1948, Robert married the love of his life the former, Alberta DeBaets.  Together, the couple would be blessed to raise three daughters.   Bob continued his studies and earned a Master’s Degree.    To support his family, he would take a position at Birmingham Groves High School where he would teach shop class for over thirty-six years, before retiring in 1988.

Bob would be blessed with a wonderful and long retirement.   He was quite proud that he was retired almost as long as he was employed.   He was extremely proud of his daughters and ecstatic about his granddaughter:  Amanda, whom he absolutely adored.   Bob’s passion in life was playing golf.  It was said that golfing might have even been his obsession!   Bob also enjoyed bowling from time to time.

Robert Auer, age 93, of Monroe formerly of Rochester, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2019 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.   In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his loving wife:  Alberta on May 21, 2006 and his brother:  Michael Auer Jr.

To cherish his memory, he leaves three beloved daughters: Carol Auer, Cathy (Gary) Pareyt, and Debra Auer; granddaughter:  Amanda Howe; three great grandsons: Jaden Auer, Matthew Howe, and Gunner Howe; and his friend:  Julie Pareyt.
