Kent Kovach

Obituary of Kent Fredrick Kovach

Kent Fredrick Kovach was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 5, 1942.   He was the only child born from the union of the late Elmer Kovacs and the late Ann (Mueller) Kovach Myers.   Following his graduation from Rogers High School in Toledo, Kent, would move to Petersburg, Michigan where he would make his home for most of his adult life.

Kent was a gifted craftsman and would work as a self-employed carpenter.   He loved working with his hands and was quite passionate about his projects.    Kent’s skills were highly sought, and for many years he was an excellent provider for his family.

Kent was also enthusiastic about the open water.   He was quite fond of his cigarette boat, which he meticulously cared for, traveling to many locations via the lake including Lake Superior.   He cared for his cars with the same pride as his boat.   Kent built a large garage many years ago to store his toys.   He liked to stay busy repairing, cleaning, and putting together his cars; all prized possessions himself, and even working on home repair and improvement projects.

Kent married Beverley (Trevarrow) Taylor and the couple had a special relationship.   They were members of The Monroe Boat Club and enjoyed spending time at their Florida home.   Kent was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in LaSalle.

Kent Fredrick Kovach, age 77, of Temperance, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family.   His passing was preceded by his parents.

To cherish his memory, Kent leaves his beloved wife:  Beverley Taylor of Temperance; five children: David (Holly) Kovach, Gregory Kovach, Charles Taylor Jr., Michael Taylor, and Michelle Taylor; and seven grandchildren: Garrett Kovach, Reagan Kovach, Kody Kovach, Jade Kovach, Allison Taylor, Emily Taylor, and Darian McBee.

A memorial service may take place at a later date at the Monroe Boat Club.   Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
