Gwendolyn Featchurs

Obituary of Gwendolyn Featchurs

Gwendolyn Wright was born on July 21, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Charles Wright and Pauline (Webb) Wright.

Gwen married the love of her life, Pastor Mikal Featchurs. From this union came the birth of their daughter Meechel Featchurs.   Gwen’s family meant more to her than life itself.  She spent many years spoiling Meechel and continued that tradition once her grandchildren were born.  She was like a second mother to her grandson Rashaun.  She absolutely loved to babysit her grandchildren.  Before Gwen got sick, she thought about becoming a writer of children’s books.

Gwendolyn Featchurs, age 68 of Monroe, passed away peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Fountain View of Monroe.   In addition to her father, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband:  Mikal Featchurs on March 27, 2011; one brother: Charles Wright Jr.; and three sisters:  Sharon Wright, Charlene Wright and Jacqueline Wright.

To cherish her memory, Gwen leaves her daughter: Meechel (Quentine) Turnage; three grandchildren: Rashaun Adams, Qira Turnage and Qian Turnage; mother: Pauline Wright; two sisters:  Denise (Jerry) Johnson and Jennifer Wright; and close friend:  Ernest Walker.

No public services are planned. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
