Obituary of Patricia Lee Meyer

Patricia Bloomfield was born on April 14, 1938 in Ecorse, Michigan. She was one of five children born from the union of the late Ercle and Esther (Mayrand) Bloomfield. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy Catholic High School in Monroe. Patricia married the love of her life, Clarence Meyer on May 25, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carleton, Michigan. Together they raised their four children: Lori, Lynn, Larry, and Lee in their loving home that they built in Carleton.

Pat, always the innovator gave birth to the first Lamaze baby born at Monroe Mercy Hospital, and she was part of the first graduating nursing class at Monroe County Community College. Pat and Clarence created the Carleton Go Getters 4-H club and started the first local camping club chapter for the NCHA called the Michigan Roving Wolverines. Being outdoors was a passion of Pat’s. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She loved camping and took pride in teaching rustic living skills to her children. Bicycling with her family was also something Pat liked to do. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Pat enjoyed volunteering. She donated her time to the Monroe Lutheran Home and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Women’s Guild.

Pat’s family remembers her love of cooking and is going to miss her pizza made from scratch that she would make on Sunday nights. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant everything to her. Patricia Lee Meyer, age 81, of Carleton passed away at Wellspring Lutheran Services on October 9, 2019 under the care of Elara Caring Hospice, with her loving family at her side.

In addition to her parents, Pat’s passing was preceded by her daughter Lynn Meyer and Pat’s siblings: Robert Bloomfield and Louise Rebradt. To cherish her memory, Pat leaves her husband of sixty-two years: Clarence Meyer of Carleton; children: Lori (Chris) Bajkiewicz, Larry (Connie) Meyer and Lee (Cathy) Meyer; grandchildren: Ruth (Marco) Palau, Hannah (Zack) Pemberton, Daniel Berris, Richard Bell, Joshua Meyer, Jessica Meyer, Jacob Meyer, Jeremy Meyer, Devan Meyer and Gabby Meyer; great grandchildren: Luke, Ceci, David and James and Pat’s siblings: Mary Bloomfield and Mike (Carol) Bloomfield.
