Obituary of Lucy Wilkison
On Saturday, September 28, 2019 an amazing woman went home to be with her Lord. Twila “Lucy” Wilkison, age 95 of Monroe, passed away at Wellspring Lutheran Services. She leaves behind a long-lasting legacy touching the lives of every person she met. A proud mom, grandma and granny, she showed us how to love without judgement. Everyone who knew her would tell you that she would do anything for you and would always tell you her honest opinion, especially her son-in-law.
Twila Lucille “Lucy” Fields was born on October 27, 1923 in Pleasant Township, Illinois. She was one of three children born from the union of the late Pearl Fields and the late Addie (Harmon) Fields. Lucy received her spiritual nourishment from Melvindale Baptist Church and lived in the Allen Park area for most of her life. She was active as an Evangelist for her Lord throughout her life.
Lucy met the love of her life, Howard Wilkison, and they married on April 18, 1941 in Kohoka, Missouri. From this union came the birth of two children: Sharon Wilkison and Carol (George) Burns. She also leaves to cherish her memory five grandchildren: Toby Thomason, Tammy Baranyai, Tracy (Pat) Ronan, Brad (Leslie) Burns, Toni (Aaron) Cooper; four great grandchildren: Justin Burns, Adam Burns, Andrew Cooper, and Seth Cooper; and two great-great grandchildren: Jason and Christopher. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Howard, two brothers: Daniel Fields and Bernard Fields; and a great granddaughter: Jessica Baranyai.
Granny was very social, and she loved to be around people. For many years, she served as the Bowling President for Wayne Bowl. She valued her independence and drove herself until she was 92 years of age. She loved to watch her beloved Detroit Tigers.
