Obituary of Mark Stephen Favor
Mark Stephen Favor was born on June 15, 1955 in Monroe. He was one of ten children born from the union of the late Elmer Favor and the late Imelda (Franzen) Favor. Mark was a 1973 graduate of Monroe High School and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975 until 1978.
Mark was employed as a Hilo Driver at Ford Motor Company, and married the former Katherine Tennier on September 29, 2011 at The Little Wedding Chapel in Taylor.
Mark grew up attending the catholic church serving as an altar boy. He was quiet, kind and gentle spirited. He was always thinking of others before himself, giving to those in need, and always willing to lend an ear. He became extremely fond of history and was knowledgeable about many subjects. Mark was proud to be an original Trekke from Star Trek season one. He appreciated the outdoors, riding his motorcycle with his wife, and going to dinner. He loved to host family events being the king of the barbeque and always preparing the finest smoked meats.
When, Mark made time for himself his favorite pastimes included listening to smooth jazz or reading a suspense thriller novel while snuggling up with his furry companions, “Star” and “Sadie.”
Mark Stephen Favor, age 64, of Flat Rock passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his wife: Katherine (Tennier) Favor; and two siblings: James Favor and Carol Favor, IHM.
To cherish his memory, Mark leaves his daughter, Jennifer Frazier of Newport; two brothers: David Favor, Leonard Favor; five sisters: Madonna McGahan, Margaret Pavlik, Laurie Favor, Gaile Motylinski, and Dianne LaVoy; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 1:00pm until 6:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-8185. At 6:00pm members of Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 Ritual Team with provide military honors followed by a Celebration of His Life led by Deacon Mike Stewart of St. Mary Parish officiating.
