Dolores Bernadette Strenko was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania on July 19, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel Strenko. Dolores graduated from Turtle Creek High School. In her earlier years, Dolores was employed at Mine Safety Appliances and several retail stores in Pennsylvania.
She married Carl D. Ringbloom on September 12, 1954 sharing twenty-one years and blessed with two sons before his passing in 1975. Dolores then took employment as a Nurse’s Aide at Whitehall Nursing Home for 4 ½ years. Dolores married Alger R. Elwell in 1981 and shared thirty-six years together prior to his passing in 2017.
Dolores appreciated the outdoors in her flower garden on warm summer days and cherished time spent with her friends and family for birthdays and holidays. At one time, she was also a very active member of her church. In recent years, she had enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s many activities.
Dolores B. Elwell, age 87, of Dundee went to her eternal home on July 9, 2019 under the care of Arbor Hospice. In addition to her parents passing she is preceded by her two beloved sons Carl J. Ringbloom Sr. and Curtis E. Ringbloom and her siblings; Margaret and Joseph.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her step-son William (Judith) Elwell; daughter-in-law Wendy Ringbloom; seven grandchildren: Carl “Joey” (Marie) Ringbloom, Christiana Ringbloom, Craig (Emily) Ringbloom, Joshua (Mallory) Ringbloom, Lauren (Jason) Fung, Martha (Mark) Marcero and John Elwell; nine great grandchildren: Johnathan, Hailey, Addison, Mason, Matthew, Andrew, Eden, Isaac and Jocelyn; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee (formerly Cover Funeral Home) 297 Tecumseh Street (734) 529-3156. A Celebration of Her Life will take place also at Merkle’s on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00am with Pastor Harold Raymond of Dundee Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to London Township Cemetery for burial.
