Obituary of Ole Nicholas Paul

Ole Nicholas Paul was born on March 6, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was one of six children born to the late Laurence L. Paul and the late Grace A. (Peterson) Paul. Ole served in the United States Navy from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Shortly after, he met the love of his life Rosemary Marie Hill and they were married on September 10, 1958 in Dundee. The couple would be blessed was blessed with five children. First and foremost, Ole cared for his family. He instilled a hard-work ethic in all of his children, and also saw the importance of fun as well. Ole played a lot of softball games with the family. He was also a good mechanic. Ole also loved fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He was also strong-willed, very loving, dependable, and had a very giving heart. As an example, Ole once saved his brother-in law from drowning. Ole Nicholas Paul, age 84, of Deerfield passed away on June 29, 2019. His passing was preceded by his youngest son; Matthew Wade Paul, his parents; Laurence L. and Grace A. (Peterson) Paul, his sister; Florence, his brothers; Laurence Paul and Bruce Paul. To cherish his memory, Ole leaves his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Marie, his daughter; Connie Marie Barnhart (Chuck) of Deerfield, his sons; Robert Ole Paul (Tammy) of Lima, Ohio, Paul Allen Paul of Deerfield, Barry Lee Paul of Ypsilanti, his sister; Charlotte Paul of Arizona, his brother; James Paul of Casey, Illinois, 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends. Friends may gather on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm noon at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee, 297 Tecumseh Street. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 am, also at Merkle’s. A procession to Maple Grove Cemetery will follow the funeral.
