Obituary of Charles E. Hale

Charles Eugene Hale of Dundee passed peacefully away at his home on July 14, 2018. Charles was born on January 2, 1942 to Arnold and Irene Hale in Eastern (Floyd County) Kentucky. He spent childhood years in Louisa, Kentucky with his paternal grandparents until he was 6 years old and then moved with his father and stepmother Catherine Hale between West Virginia, Ashland, Kentucky and Louisa, Kentucky. As a teen, he moved to Michigan and graduated from Dundee High School in 1960. After high school, Charles enlisted in the military in 1962 and served on active duty for four years in the United States Air Force Security Service in Scotland and Indiana. Following his military service, he went to work for Ford Motor Company at their Rawsonville Plant until illness brought him to retirement in 1984. He was married to Janie Ackerman in January 1964 and they divorced in 1972. In 1973 he married Francine Weiss and they made their home in Dundee. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in June 2018. Charles loved the Lord, his family John Wayne movies, NASCAR, and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Charles is survived by his wife, Francine, his daughter Kim (Chad) Belcher, his son Chad (Amy) Hale, five grandchildren, two sisters Brenda Aliff and Hazel Guilford, a sister in law Sandy Buchanan and several nieces nephews. Viewing hours will be from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Cover Funeral Home in Dundee on Thursday, July 19, 2018. The funeral service will be a 11:00 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Milan Baptist Church and a luncheon will immediately follow. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service. Graveside service will begin at 2:00 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
