Obituary of Richard D. Guilford
Richard Dean ‘Red’ Guilford, age 82, of Dundee, Michigan passed away at his home under the care of his family and hospice on Monday, January 1, 2018. He was born in Wauseon, Ohio November 6, 1935 the son of John P. and Lula Mae (Hill) Guilford. He married Hazel Hale on July 3, 1965 in Dundee. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2015. He proudly served his country as a Cpl. in the United States Army. Red had worked for 41 years as a master painter at the Tecumseh Products Company in Tecumseh, Michigan . He had also farmed and did carpenter and construction work. He also raised cattle and was a meat cutter; painted church steeples and tall buildings. Red loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and going up north. He was an active hunter and fisherman for most of his life. His survivors include his wife Hazel; son Richard R. (Joanne) Guilford; daughter Denise (Tom) Robinson; grandchildren Dalton and Dawson Guilford and Cody and Shiloh Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John and sisters Anna Belle (Charles) Sharp and Joan Litten. Friends may call on Thursday from 1-8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Friday, January 5, 2017 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Mr. Paul Kamprath, a family friend. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dundee. Memorials may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
