Obituary of Larry Heck
Larry Heck, age 77 of Dundee, Michigan passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017 at Wellspring Lutheran Home in Monroe. Larry whose nickname was ‘Pork Chop’ was born in Monroe, Michigan March 24, 1940 the son of Earl and Venus (Peters) Heck. He married Janice Hoppert on June 20, 1959 in Monroe. The celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2009. He learned meat cutting and butchering at a young age. He started out in business 1956 and in 1970 they purchased Weyher’s Economy Market in Dundee. In 1977 he then purchased Cauchie’s Market which he and his wife ran until 2001 when he retired. He was a Dundee booster and promoter of the village. He was a former member of the Milan Loyal Order of the Moose; was an active member of the Dundee Recreation Commission and ran the cook shack for many years; in 1976 he joined the Crab Orchard Hunt Club in Grand Marias with other local men of the village of Dundee; was a member of the Ye Olde Hunt Club of Dundee; was also active with the Old Mill Restoration Committee. His survivors include his wife Jan of Dundee; son Scott Heck of Dundee and daughter Holly (Gary) Miller of Tipton; sister Laura Rae of Hudson, Michigan; grandchildren Chad (Danielle) Miller, Kyle (Auggie) Miller, Taylor (Tim) #Heudecker and Lyndsay Heck; great-grandchildren Logan and Ethan Miller. There will be a memorial gathering in his memory on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 10 AM until a service at 2 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee. Officiating will be Rev. Jennifer Kiefer, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. In accordance with his wishes cremation has been held. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wellspring Lutheran Home in Monroe.
