Obituary of Velma J. Weygand

Velma J. Weygand, age 88, of Dundee, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Country Meadows Assisted Living Center in Grass Lake under her families care and hospice. She was born in Wahkon, Minnesota on April 9, 1929 the daughter of Marvin and Mary Frances (Morris) Ingle. She married Robert V. Weygand on November 23, 1947 in Wabash, Indiana. Sadly he passed away on May 13, 1992. They had moved to Dundee from the Nappanee, Indiana area in the early 1950’s when Bob took a teaching position with Dundee Community Schools. Velma was an active member of the Dundee United Methodist Church; was a former member of the Dundee Senior Citizens Center and played cards with her husband and other teachers and educators in Dundee. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Victor) Lukasiak of Grass Lake; grandchildren Shannon Hammer, Nicholas Weygand, Amanda Velasco, Allyn Weygand and Patrick Weygand; great-grandchildren Gabriella Hammer, Ethan Hammer, Maegan Weygand, Jackson Velasco and Andrew Weygand; daughters in law Nyann Weygand of Dundee and Janet Weygand of Toledo, Ohio; many nieces and nephews in Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Weygand, sons CPT. Bruce Weygand in 2015 and Philip Weygand in 1997 and also 11 siblings. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Dundee United Methodist Church, corner of Sidney and Franklin. Cremation has been held. Arrangements are being handled by the Cover Funeral, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). A funeral luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the services. Cremation interment will follow at a later date at Union Center Cemetery in Nappanee, Elkhart County, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Dundee Moore-Lenz-Wakefield VFW Post 6462.
