Obituary of Carl Larson

Carl A. ‘Butch’ Larson, Jr. age 75, of Dundee, passed away at his home on Friday, June 24, 2016 under the care of his family. He was born in Dundee on August 21, 1940 the son of Carl A. and Anna (Filzek) Larson Sr. He married Marilyn L. Dean on February 12, 1966 at the Dundee Congregational Church. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary this year. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1958 and joined the US Army serving from 1958 until 1961 being stationed in Germany. His rank was E-3. He also received schooling to become a licensed boiler operator in the State of Michigan. He worked for Motor State Products in Ypsilanti until the plant closing. He then went into business with his parents from 1969-1972 as owners of Larson’s Tavern in Dundee. He then worked for Uniloy in Dundee from 1972-1978. In 1978 he started employment with Dundee Community Schools where he was a custodian and boiler operator. He retired in 2002 after 25 years of service. He believed in getting involved in his community and served on the Dundee Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He also was a long time member of the Dundee Recreation Commission for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also loved going to Sand Lake, dancing and singing, golfing on leagues in the area, taking pontoon boat rides and following his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; his daughters Jill (Chris) Pegouskie of Dundee and Dana (Jerry) Allen of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren Kylie and Kassidy Pegouskie and great-grandchildren Jace and Wyatt Bondie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Larson and sisters Carol Cavendish and KayDee Rader. Friends may call from 12 noon until a 1:00 PM memorial service on Thursday, June 30 2016 at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) Officiating will be Rev. James Schenck, pastor of the Britton Congregational Church. Military honors will be conducted immediately after the service by the Dundee Veterans Memorial Group.Cremains interment will be held later at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. Immediately following the service the family invites everyone to a memorial luncheon from 2 – 5 PM at the Dundee Veterans Hall on McBride Street.
