Eliseo Elizondo was born in LaFeria, Texas on March 25, 1955. He was the son of the late Enrique Elizondo and the late Beneranda Esparza. He was also raised by his stepfather the late Juan Vega.
Elizeo attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Erie Mason High School. He was very athletic and earned letters and won many trophies in Baseball, Football, and Basketball.
He was a fan of the University of Michigan Football Team "Go Blue", and of the Detroit Tigers. As a youth, Eliseo had played in an All Star game for Erie Mason at the old Tiger Stadium. He made the most of it by belting a home run.
Eliseo loved to travel and had many adventures in his life. Family was always very important to him and he often found time to return home and visit. He was very fond of his Mexican music.
Eliseo Vega-Elizondo age 56 of Riverview, Florida passed away on Friday morning, November 11, 2011 at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida. Eliseo was loved very much and will be sadly missed by family and friends in Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Alabama, New Orleans, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina, and Mexico. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Eliseo's passing was preceded by two brothers: Enrique Elizondo and Juan Jose Vega and a sister: Margarita Esparza.
To cherish his memory he leaves a step daughter: Lisa Marie Coulter of Tennessee, nine siblings: Eliud (Maria Elena) Elizondo of Holland, Michigan, Emilio (Maria) Esparza of Toledo, Juanita B elair of Monroe, Bill (Ester) Wynkoop of Toledo, Evangelina Vega of Toledo, Ofelia Vega of Toledo, Steven (Leticia) Vega of Toledo, Maria Teresa Gonzales of Erie, Juan (Guadalupe) Aldana of Erie; and his former spouse: Kim Elizondo of Toledo.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. He will lie in state from 10:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am, Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2214 Manhattan Street. Father Fred Kajal pastor of the church will officiate. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie for burial.
