Obituary of George Croitori

George Croitori, age 89, of Dundee, passed away at the SSIHM Healthcare Center on Friday, August 7, 2015. George was born on February 24, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Harry and Maxine Croitori. He honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, worked for Sheldon Lumber Co. and retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1991 after 40 years. George was very proud to have attained his GED from the Dundee Adult Education program at the age of 60. George married the former Marilyn Edelbrock on November 13, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, Michigan. George and Marilyn celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary having lived their entire married lives in the house that George built. He is survived by his wife and 4 daughters: Mary Chinavare, Linda (Bob) Rehklau, Cindy (Dale) Cody and Joan (Dave) Wittkop; grandchildren, Todd Rehklau, Kristine Stewart, Holly Chinavare, Rachel Treadway, Dana Drummond, Valerie Wittkop, Jason Cody, Paul Wittkop and Jonathan Wittkop: great-grandchildren Carly, Joshua, Mark, Matthew, Seth, Abigail, RaeAnn, Collin, Brady, Brianna, Jacob and Maggie. George was preceded in death by a grandson Mark Chinavare, his parents, sisters Dora Schultz , Clara Williams and Helen Weyher. He did a lot of carpentry work at St. Irene’s Catholic Church where he was a member. He enjoyed his workshop and using his woodworking talents to make many items for his family. He also used his skills making stained glass articles. Friends may call on Monday from 3 - 8 pm and Tuesday from 2 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home. He will lie in state Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 10:30 AM until Mass at 11 AM at St. Gabriel Parish, St. Irene Campus in Dundee. A rosary will be recited Tuesday 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Ida. Memorials may be made to SSIHM Health Care Center, Great Lakes Caring (Hospice) or to Dundee Caring and Sharing at the Dundee United Methodist Church.
