Obituary of Franklin D. Goodridge

Franklin D. Goodridge, 81, of Dundee passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born January 30, 1934 the son of Lyle and Arlene (Fluher) Goodridge. He lived his entire life in Dundee and graduated from Dundee High School in 1952. After graduation he worked at Revco in Deerfield. In 1954 he enlisted in the US Army. After airborne training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he spent 2 years in Germany as a medical aid man with the 11th Airborne Special Forces. He returned from the service in 1958 and attended Barber College in Detroit. He owned barber shops in Ann Arbor and Monroe until 1972. He then went to work at Ford Motor Co. Saline Plastics Plant, retiring from there in 1993. He was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt and fish. He spent summer months at the family cabin near Kalkaska and wintered in Florida. He loved travelling, dancing, playing cards, playing pool and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife Barbara who he married January 2, 1956 at Corinth, Mississippi; 2 daughters Rita (Jack) Fiser and Diane Goodridge; 4 grandchildren Jeff (Maria) Fiser, Jill Fiser, David O’Lone and Kelsey O’Lone; 2 great-grandchildren Kristi and Katie Fiser; brother Jack (Suzanne) Goodridge.; sister in law Lucy Goodridge and brother in law Gene Bishop, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents , 2 brothers Lyle and Don; 2 sisters Margaret Possley and Judy Bishop; nephew Troy Goodridge. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday from 3 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 AM at the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes cremation has been held. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1475 E. 12 Mile Rd., Madison Hts., MI 48071, Great Lakes Caring Hospice, or to Dundee Senior Citizens Center, 284 W.
