Obituary of Shirley J. Bruckner
Shirley J. Bruckner, age 77, of Milan Township and formerly of Dundee passed away at the emergency room at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor after battling with Wegener’s Disease for years. She was born December 31, 1937 at Wyandotte, Michigan the daughter of Clifford and Evelyn (Adams) Hunter. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1956. She married the love of her life John N. Bruckner on September 14,1957. They had shared 54 wonderful years together before his passing on January 4, 2012. She had also lived her entire adult life in the same house that John had built for them before their marriage. She was active in the Azalia United Methodist Church; loved making crafts and especially baskets; spending time with her family and had worked for 30 years for H & R Block in Dundee as a tax preparer. She loved spending time up north at their cabin on the lake and watching and feeding the birds. Shirley is survived by her three children: Pamela (Lawrence) Kominek, David (Debbie) Bruckner and Duane (Chrissie) Bruckner; sisters Barbara Turner and Bea Blomquist (Rev. Paul), and brother Ben Hunter; nine grandchildren: Chad (Jenn) Zorn, Lawrence (Kelly) Kominek Jr., Hope Kominek (Greg Schrader), Malinda (Erich) Swartz, Taylor Bruckner, Shelby Bruckner, Hunter Bruckner, Jacob Bruckner and Hayden Bruckner; seven great-grandchildren. Payton Zorn, Holden Zorn, Jaxson Swartz, Kaden Kominek, Brett Kominek, Liehm Swartz and Addie Konimek. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Beverly LaVoy. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) and on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 11 AM until a 1 PM Memorial Service at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Butson, pastor of the Azalia United Methodist Church. In accordance with her wishes cremation has been held. Cremains interment will follow at a later date in the Azalia Cemetery. She loved being a grandma and great-grandma. It lit up her day when they would call or stop by. The smile this put on her face was amazing.
