Obituary of Lynn E. Green
Lynn E. Green, 89, of Dundee, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. He was born January 22, 1925 in Elyria, Ohio the son of Harvey and Nora Mae Green. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and received his master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. He moved to Dundee in 1953 and taught in Dundee schools from 1953-1955. He then worked for Purolator in Petersburg, taught school at Summerfield, Lincoln Schools in Ypsilanti, Bedford and supervised student teachers at EMU. He retired in 1975. He was an insurance agent for Columbus Mutual Life, owned a used car dealership in Britton and finally owned his own antique and furniture business called Lynn’s General Store. He was also a member of the Dundee Optimist Club and helped with the 4_H Program and taught Sunday school at London and Azalia United Methodist Churches and taught adult education classes at Dundee Community schools. He married Barbara Damon August 9, 1952 at the College Chapel at Bowling Green State University. She passed away April 6, 1985. He was a loyal supporter of Dundee sports and never missed a basketball game unless he was ill. He played baseball, basketball and footballwhile in high school in Elyria. He is survived by his son Robert (Deborah) Green of Durand; daughters Kathleen (John Bradley) Miller of Onsted and Mary Jo Hopps of Monroe; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death bu his wife, parents and sister Loretta Kniesel . Friends may call on Friday from 3 – 8 PM. His funeral will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2014 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh St, Dundee (734-529-3156). Officiating will be Rev. Michael Clemmer, retired United Methodist pastor at Deerfield UMC. . Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
